NHL announces teams and location for the 2024 Winter Classic
Historically, the National Hockey League Winter Classic is held on New Year's Day. On Wednesday, it was announced that the 2024/2025 rendition will be held on December 31, 2024, with puck drop occurring at 5PM.
The location for the game is historic Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, on the north side of Chi-town, and will feature Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks, who will welcome Jordan Binnington and the St. Louis Blues.
While outdoor games have become a bit gimmicky and certainly rely on a perfect weather report, there's nothing like sitting outside on frozen bleachers with tens of thousands of rabid fans that would do almost anything to attend such a spectacle.
Whether you agree that outdoor games have run their course, it is important to understand that as long as the league continues to sell tickets and make revenue for these events, it's likely they'll be continuing for the long run.
