NHL Department of Player Safety announces multi-game suspension for Brenden Dillon
During last night's game between the Winnipeg Jets and Pittsburgh Penguins, defender Brenden Dillon was ejected from the game in the second period. As Acciari came down the wing Dillon delivered a huge hit, which unfortunately landed directly to Acciari's head. The hit sent Acciari's helmet flying and sent the forward hard to the ice.
Today Dillon met with the NHL's Department of Player Safety via a phone hearing to discuss the hit. After the hearing George Parros wasted little time in rendering his decision.
Winnipeg's Brenden Dillon has been suspended for three games for an illegal check to the head on Pittsburgh's Noel Acciari. Acciari did not return to last night's game and he is expected to miss time with a suspected concussion. Hopefully Acciari makes a quick recovery.
