At the end of each National Hockey League season, the NHL hosts their own award show, where individual accolades like the Hart Trophy, the Vezina Trophy and the Rocket Richard Trophy are given out among many others, but the NHL awards might not be around for very much longer.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte on The 32 Thoughts Podcast, the NHL might be on the verge of getting rid of the end of year showcase; take a look.

Friedman on 32TP says he doesn't expect there to be much of an award show this year, they're talking about copying the NBA, where they award the trophy during the playoffs, either on game day or the day before, then the player gets rewarded with a big ovation in front of the fans

In fact, Friedman mentions that he doesn't expect much of a show this year as well. It seems the NHL may strive to hand out awards similar to what the NBA does, which is award trophy's either on game days or the day before a game.

I like the thought of scrapping the NHL Awards all together, they've lost their lustre and are losing viewership as well. Plus, I'm sure the players don't want to go to an award show at the very beginning of their offseason.
