Podcast parts ways with Bobby Ryan following social media comments
An Ottawa Senators podcast has decided to part ways with former National Hockey League forward Bobby Ryan following comments he made on social media this past week.
Earlier this week, former National Hockey League forward and United States Olympian Bobby Ryan made some comments on social media have been deemed misogynistic by many in the Twitter/X community.
Ryan's first comment was in response to a post by Meghan Chayka, who is the co-founder and co-CEO of Stathletes. Chayka's post was about the current NCAA Women's basketball tournament and that everyone is watching, to which Bobby Ryan replied saying:
"Name 7 players. Not 1. Not 25-7.
First and last namesgo for it"
The next day, in a now-deleted post on X, Ryan doubled down and went on to essentially say that women's sports aren't a thing.
"Guys...holy hell. Relax!!!!
It's 843 and I want to go home and pretend like women's sports are a thing."
Because of his comments this week, Brent Wallace and Jason York of Coming In Hot, a podcast about the Ottawa Senators, announced that they are parting ways with Bobby Ryan and that his views don't align with those of the show or their sponsors.
"Earlier this week, Bobby Ryan made comments on social media that do not align with our show or that of our sponsors and partner, The Nation Network. As a result, we have mutually decided to part ways." Brent Wallace and Jason York of Coming In Hot said in a post on X on Friday evening.
There has yet to be any official comment from Bobby Ryan on what he's said this week or his departure from the Coming In Hot podcast, but it's safe to say that he'll think twice next time before speaking on women's sports.
