Ryan McDonagh was ejected from tonight's game after huge collision with former teammate Ross Colton

The Nashville Predators had their points streak ended against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night, so they were looking to begin a new streak tonight. The Predators are facing off against the Colorado Avalanche in what could end up being a playoff preview. In the second period of tonight's game, a collision occurred which sent Nashville's defender, Ryan McDonagh to the locker room for the rest of the night.

As the puck is flipped out of the Avalanche zone McDonagh begins to pursue at which time he collides with former teammate Ross Colton. Colton and McDonagh spent extended time together as members of the Tampa Bay Lightning so it is unlikely there was any attempt of malice on this play. However, it is clear that McDonagh's shoulder strikes Colton in the head.

McDonagh assessed a 5-minute major for this hit. Officials are reviewing the play to determine if McDonagh should be further penalized.

After a brief review, the call on the ice stood ending The defender's night. Colton went directly to the Avalanche locker room, presumably for concussion protocol. As soon as the officials made the call head coach Andrew Brunette went on an expletive filled rant letting the officials know exactly what he thought.

The Preds gave up just one goal on the penalty kill and and currently lead the game 4-3.
