Sam Bennett and Brad Marchand share a moment after Game 6
After the Florida Panthers defeated the Boston Bruins to win their Atlantic Division playoff matchup Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett shared a great moment in the handshake line.
The handshake line in the National Hockey League is a time honored tradition. After the end of a hard fought series the two teams lineup to congratulate each other, regardless of the outcome. In every handshake line there are moments that the cameras are glued to.
With the type of battles we see over the course of a series, the handshake line is where feuds are ended and hatchets are buried. That's what made tonight's handshake line so interesting, what would happen between Sam Bennett and Brad Marchand? After being injured in Game 3 by Bennett, Marchand returned to the lineup tonight.
Yesterday, Marchand shared his thoughts on the play and how he felt about Bennett.
I think he got away with a shot. But I'm not gonna complain. Shit happens. I've been on the other side of a lot of plays. That's part of the game, part of playoff hockey. Sucks to be on the other side of it, but that stuff happens.
So when the final horn went all eyes zeroed in on the two. As one would expect Marchand was a true pro and immediately shook Bennett's hand before the two exchanged words.
It's unlikely that things are over between the two, but like the professional he is Marchand treated this moment exactly how it was intended, continuing to show just how amazing hockey players are.
