Just over twenty-four hours have passed since the hockey world was gutted by the tragic news of the passing of Johnny & Matthew Gaudreau at the hands of an alleged drunk driver, tributes have poured in from around North America and across the world offering condolences to the Gaudreau's and well as the countless individuals who this unspeakable tragedy has affected.
Not only have these tributes come in the form of social media messages, but physical tributes have begun to materialize at places like the Saddledome in Calgary, where Johnny Gaudreau was drafted and began his career.
As well as in Columbus outside of Nationwide Arena where Johnny was about to begin his third season with the Blue Jackets.
While these tributes are only a couple of examples, many other individuals have created their own tributes by leaving sticks outside their homes which was first done in the wake of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash in 2018.
The Gretzky family was the latest to offer their support via social media with a message through their X account.
As the days weeks and months begin to pass it's almost a guarantee that there will be more tributes, organized or not remembering two lives that were taken from all of us way too soon. Honouring those is the beginning of helping those affected by this tragedy to heal and while healing is an ongoing process and is never truly something finite.
