Boston Bruins legend predicted the Knights would win the Stanley Cup if they hired Bruce Cassidy
The Vegas Golden Knights winning a Stanley Cup within the first six years of their emergence may seem like a fairy tale, but there's quite a few people out there who could see it happeningone of those people being beloved Bruins captain, Patrice Bergeron.
According to Vegas Hockey Now it was revealed in a recent interview with George McPhee, president of hockey operations for Vegas , that the general manager of the team, Kelly McCrimmon, asked Mark Stone to get in contact with Patrice Bergeron, captain of the Boston Bruins and Bruce Cassidy's former team.
Bergeron and Stone have a conversation and the Bruins legend predicted the Golden Knights would win the Stanley Cup under Cassidy this year.
Vegas is going to hire Bruce Cassidy and they're going to win the Stanley Cup next year
This information was disclosed just three days after Bruce Cassidy hoisted the cup with his new winning team.
This is shocking for two reasons: it's not uncommon for teams to have a conversation if one id bringing in a former coach, but, for Bergeron to know what the Bruins were losing in Cassidy and to predict Vegas would win the cup under him is astounding. Bergeron is known as one of, if not the classiest player in the NHL, for him to speak out against his team just shows how the Bruins were feeling after the Cassidy firing.
