Marc Staal catches Mitch Marner with an elbow to the face, officials refuse to make a call on the play

The way the season ended for the Toronto Maple Leafs leaves something to be desired to be sure, but it's non-calls like this that have the Leafs and their fans fuming.

In the dying seconds of the third period, Marc Staal swing his arm at Mitch Marner's head knocking him to the ice, take a look:

Rewatching this and it's crazy they didn't call this a penalty lol.

I understand it's the dying seconds of a tie game in an elimination game, but Staal full on swung his arm at Marner's head😂😭

Not only is this a penalty every time this play happens, but you could make the argument that elbowing is one of the most crystal clear rules in the book.

The other thing at play here too is obviously that the puck was nowhere near Marner at the time the hit was made, still no arm goes up.

The officiating in this year's playoffs has been abysmal across the board in every series, but this is just the latest bit of proof that proves officials only make calls when they want to, not when an infraction is actually committed.
