The Boston Bruins suffered one of the most shocking upsets in NHL history losing 4-3 in overtime blowing a 3-1 series lead.

One of the biggest questions for the Boston, is to figure out the future of captain Patrice Bergeron. Many players play with injuries during the playoffs and Bergeron was one of those. It has been revealed that the captain was playing with a herniated disc in his back. The 37-year-old appeared in three of the seven games in the first round series between the Bruins and Panthers.

Boston shockingly gets bounced from the first round after winning the President's Trophy and breaking the NHL record for the most wins in a season with a record of 65-12-5.

The future Hockey Hall of Famer, said that he needed time before calling it a career. Bergeron told reporters post-game that he would discuss the situation with his family.

"Right now, it's hard to process anything. Obviously, we're shocked and disappointed," Bergeron said, "It hurts right now so I'm going to have to step back and give it some thought with my family."

It was very emotional post-game moment, Bergeron took the time to hug every single one of his Bruins teammates. Long-time teammate Brad Marchand was the last to give the captain a hug, you could tell the tears were beginning to flow as they headed to the locker room for the final time of the postseason.

If this is the last time we see Bergeron as a professional hockey player he finishes his career with 427 goals, 1040 points in 1294 games played. He lifted one Stanley Cup in 2011 and won five Selke trophies.
