When the Los Angeles Kings selected Quinton Byfield 2nd overall in the 2020 National Hockey League Entry Draft, expectations were exceptionally high. Unfortunately Byfield hasn't been able to live up to them thus far in his NHL career and with the addition of Pierre- Luc Dubois this off-season, he has now become expendable.
According to NHL Trade Rumors , the Boston Bruins are interested in acquiring the 21 year old forward and a change of scenery could be beneficial for Byfield.
Byfield, skated in 53 games for the Kings last season and his offensive output was less than impressive with only 3 goals and 19 assists for just 22 total points.
Byfield's ceiling is still very high, make no mistake, but the addition of Dubois pushes him down the lineup when he needs the most ice time he can get.
With the Bruins being as cash-strapped as they are, a deal that would send Byfield to Boston would work for both teams. The Bruins add a much needed centre and Byfield likely gets more playing time.
According to NHL Trade Rumors a potential deal would include both a 1st round pick and top prospect Fabian Lysell heading to LA in exchange for Byfield.
