Insider reveals the crazy return Kyle Dubas is reportedly offering in an Erik Karlsson trade
Since being named the Pittsburgh Penguins' President of Hockey Operations, Kyle Dubas has also been acting as the team's General Manager. While Dubas has had a rather unimpressive start to the offseason he is still looking at ways to bolster his roster. It has been widely reported that Dubas has his eyes set on a blockbuster move.
Most notably, Dubas and the Penguins have been linked very closely to Erik Karlsson. Karlsson had an incredible bounce back season last year winning the Norris Trophy and leading all defensemen in points. It has been widely reported that Karlsson has asked for a trade, but that hasn't done anything to lower the Sharks asking price.
Now a Pittsburgh sports insider has shared the rumoured offer that is currently on the table from Dubas to the Sharks.
Erik Karlsson w/ $9 million cap hit for PO Joseph, 2 1st round picks (likely lottery protected), and Mikael Granlund (probably to a 3rd team) This would be a massive return for the Sharks and would certainly position them well to capitalize on their full rebuild. However, for an aging Penguins core who missed the playoffs last season, this move seems unnecessary at this time.
