Montreal Canadiens trade Sean Monahan to Western Conference Stanley Cup Contender
After the Vancouver Canucks acquired Elias Lindholm from the Calgary Flames, it was clear the trade markets were starting to open. Teams often wait for others to make the first move before deciding his time to pounce. According to Pierre LeBrun the trade markets are officially opened.
After the Canucks made the acquisition, it took one of the top rated centers off the trade market. Now teams looking to potentially acquire a piece feel that the market is slimming, it is clear that moves are being made.
LeBrun shared that today the Winnipeg Jets have officially moved to acquire Sean Monahan.
Still not finalized, still details to be worked out, but all indications are that the Montreal Canadiens are trading Sean Monahan to the Winnipeg Jets

This move helps Winnipeg solidify their depth down the middle as they continue to battle injuries. The Jets have been one of the best teams this year in the Western Conference and are looking to stay in striking distance of the Canucks. This move certainly helps them do that.
In 49 games this season Monahan has 13 goals and 22 assists. After nearly having his career derailed by injuries, the center has found his game once again.
The Montreal Canadiens will receive a 1st round pick and a conditional asset for Monahan.
