Report: DeBrincat trade held up due to disagreement on contract
Speculation continues to mount with Alex Debrincat reportedly on his way out of Ottawa as a member of the Senators and the Detroit Red Wings as the primary suitors for the 25-year-old Right Winger, but if recent reports are accurate, the deal is being held up by both Debrincat's camp and Yzerman not being able to come to an agreement on a contract.
It's believed that Yzerman is not willing to pay Debrincat the 8-year term that he and his camp are asking for. The GM fought Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin before they came to an agreement and you would have to believe they wouldn't want to pay anyone more than their leader.
Yzerman's tenure as General Manager has been disappointing, to say the least, and as recently as letting Philip Zadina walk, you have to wonder what his gameplan is moving forward.
Debrincat would be a welcome addition to Detroit's forward core, but you'd have to wonder at what cost would he be willing to become a Red Wing.
