The Toronto Maple Leafs seem to be focusing more on defence with their new general manager Brad Treliving making a it a focus. It appears the Leafs have been pushing to acquire a defenceman for some time and now it looks like the Calgary Flames are a likely trade partner.
According to Eklund of hockeybuzz.com, the Leafs and Flames are working on a trade involving Noah Hanifin and possibly Andrew Mangiapane; take a look.
The Flames on the other hand really like Willam Nylander, Timothy Liljegren and Matthew Knies as well as some other prospects. Obviously not all of these players are going to be involved in the trade, but one or two of the players named on either side, as well as prospects.
Hanifin would definitely help sure up the Leafs blue line, but if the cost is more than one of those players named above, that's too much. If we're being honest, the Leafs won't even be willing to give up Knies.
However, if the deal is Willam Nylander and a pick for Hanifin, that would make the most sense.
