Brian Dumoulin, who won the Stanley Cup twice as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, has been traded to the Anaheim Ducks by Seattle in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
The 32-year-old has one-year remaining on his contract that he signed with Seattle as an unrestricted free agent back in 2023, that comes with a cap hit of $3.15 million. Prior to this trade, and even still afterwards, the Anaheim Ducks were well under the salary cap floor for the 2024-25 season.
Adding Dumoulin will not only help the Ducks get closer to the salary cap floor, but also adds another veteran presence to help out the younger guys such as Pavel Mintyukov, Olen Zellweger, Tristan Luneau, among others.
In 80 games for the Kraken last season, the Biddeford, Maine native had 16 points (six goals, ten assists), 20 penalty minutes and was a plus-three.
