The Washington Capitals have decided not to wait until the trade deadline in a couple of days, moving forward Anthony Mantha to a Stanley Cup contender.
According to reports, Mantha is now a member of the Vegas Golden Knights.

The return for the 476 regular season game veteran is a second round draft pick, and a fourth round pick. The Capitals retain 50 percent of Mantha's salary.
Despite Washington's struggles, Mantha is have a very good season, scoring 20 goals and 34 points in 56 games. It's his first 20-goal season since 2018-19 in Detroit. Moving Mark Stone to LTIR freed up space for Vegas to make this move. It's interesting that the Caps were unable to get a first-rounder for someone who was one of the biggest names on the board before this trade.
