After years of being a highly skilled and competitive team, new reports emerging today are indicating the Carolina Hurricanes could be looking to part ways with some star players in order to get themselves over their playoff hurdles.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Hurricanes could be looking to part ways with Teuvo Teravainen in order to give themselves more cap flexibility.
Of course, with the Hurricanes being one of the most rumoured landing spots for an Erik Karlsson trade, a trade of Teravainen could help the team make Karlsson's massive incoming salary work.
Teravainen is a highly skilled player, just 28 years old, and is owed $5.4M on the final year of his contract this season. Unfortunately for Teravainen and the Hurricanes, his career has been mired in injury so far, only playing 2 full seasons in his 9 year career.
Teravainen could work for a rebuilding team looking to add scoring to supplement young talent, or a contending team looking to capitalize on his skill if he's healthy.
