Bill Peters, who unceremoniously resigned as head coach of the Calgary Flames back in 2019, has landed a new role. In the meantime, Peters and the league he now works for are confident he has changed.
Peters has been named the new bench boss of the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League, with the team saying he's signed a multi-year deal. In a news release, both the WHL and Peters say he's changed.
"After a thorough review, speaking with representatives from Shades of Humanity, and receiving a commitment from Bill to continue on his path of anti-racism, self-growth and redemption, the WHL is satisfied Bill is ready to return to coaching in the WHL." - Western Hockey League
"I have worked closely with Shades of Humanity to understand and correct my regrettable actions. I have learned a lot through this educational journey and feel ready to return to coaching. I am in a unique position to guide our next generation of community leaders and to establish a more inclusive culture in hockey." - Bill Peters

Peters resignation from the Flames was the result of Akim Aliu stating Peters had used anti-black racists remarks against him when both were with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL in 2009-10. Aliu still says Peters has never apologized.
Aliu has since said that another coach tried to broker an apology on behalf of Peters, but he's not buying it.
