Up for grabs is a massive six-foot-six forward who has been surprisingly placed on waivers by the Detroit Red Wings
If NHL teams are looking to add size and grit to their lineup, this just might be the guy to grab.
Tim Gettinger, a massive forward who comes in at six-foot-six, and 215 lbs, has been placed on waivers.
Tim Gettinger was a fifth round draft pick of the New York Rangers back in 2016. Despite the size he adds to a roster, he's played just 16 games in the NHL since then.
After spending most of five seasons with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL, Tim Gettinger signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Detroit Red Wings in 2023, which was extended for 2024. However, he hasn't played in either the NHL or AHL this season due to injury.
Gettinger appears to be ready to make his return, and will be assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins, unless someone wants to take a chance on the rugged 26-year-old.
There hasn't been a huge lot of waiver wire actions this week, although the Western Conference-contending Edmonton Oilers did claim Kasperi Kapanen from the St. Louis Blues in a bit of a surprise move.
