On Friday afternoon, CapFriendly released a list of 15 players that will need to sign with their respective team or else they'll hit the open market. The most prominent name on the list is John Farinacci, an Arizona Coyotes prospect who's been playing at Harvard University and won gold with the United States at the 2021 World Junior Hockey Championship.
Let's take a look at the list that CapFriendly has released.
- John Farinacci (Arizona)
- Demetrios Koumontzis (Calgary)
- Kevin Wall (Carolina)
- Jake Wise (Chicago)
- Robbie Stucker (Columbus)
- Robert Mastrosimone (Detroit)
- Skyler Brind'Amour (Edmonton)
- Christian Krygier (New York Islanders)
- Jacob Pivonka (New York Islanders)
- Jakov Novak (Ottawa)
- Jonathan Tychonick (Ottawa)
- Jay O'Brien (Philadelphia)
- Arvid Henrikson (San Jose)
- Ryan O'Connell (Toronto)
- Jared Moe (Winnipeg)
There are several players on that list above that are signed for next season, but not to NHL contracts. Skyler Brind'Amour, Christian Krygier, Jacob Pivonka, Jakov Novak and Jonathan Tychonick are on AHL deals for 2023-24, Robbie Stucker is signed in the ECHL, while Arvid Henriksson is heading to Sweden.
John Farinacci and Jay O'Brien are so far the only two players that are publicly known that won't be signing with their respective franchises. When it comes to Jay O'Brien, because he was a first-round pick back in 2018, the Philadelphia Flyers will receive a compensatory second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
