Milan Lucic gets an update on his pending court case after his arrest

Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic was back in court via Zoom on Friday for a new hearing in connection with an ongoing domestic violence case.

Lucic plead not guilty in November 2023 to a charge of assault and battery on his wife.

During the brief hearing, the court set a jury trial date for Lucic on Feb. 16, 2024.

According to police documents, when they arrived on the scene, Lucic answered the door and appeared to be intoxicated. The police observed a broken lamp on the nightstand and what appeared to be shards of broken glass on the floor, while escorting Lucic to his bedroom to get clothing.

According to the police report, the argument allegedly began over a missing cell phone.

"Operations relayed to the responding officers that the reporting party/victim called and stated that her husband attempted to choke her," according to police. "The victim stated that her husband could not locate his cellphone after returning to their apartment after a night out. She stated that the suspect began yelling at her, demanding his phone back, believing she had hidden the phone. She stated that she did not have the phone or know where it was."

Lucic has been away from the team since November 18th when Boston announced that he would be taking an indefinite leave of absence.

The 35 year old signed a one-year deal for $1M with the Bruins for a second tour of duty. Lucic has only played four games this season, after missing time from blocking a shot. He has two assists while averaging 11:58 in ice time.
