Coyotes Ingram avoids serious injury after scary incident
An odd yet potentially scary scene occurred Sunday night in Calgary at the Scotiabank Saddledome when the Arizona Coyotes visited the Calgary Flames.
During a moment in play in the Coyotes zone with the Flames forechecking hard, Calgary right winger Matt Coronato attempted to go around the net to chase a Coyotes player and somehow managed to get his stick up and into the mask of goaltender Connor Ingram. The blade of Coronato's stick went far enough through that it hit him in the face.
The goaltending position is probably the most dangerous in hockey and obviously comes with a risk on every play that involves them, but this specific instance happens less than one percent of the time, but nonetheless is scary.
Ingram did not appear to be hurt on the play and managed to finish the game in which the Coyotes lost 6-5, their last game on the road branded as the Coyotes franchise.
