The Boston Bruins have lost a key piece of their blueline in their first-round 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Boston Bruins lost more than just game 2 last night in their first-round 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. They've also lost a key piece on their backend. Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery gave an update on Andrew Peeke today after he left last night's game in the second period. Montgomary said Peeke won't be making the trip to Toronto for games 4 and 5.

"Boston coach Jim Montgomery said Andrew Peeke is out week-to-week with injury suffered in Game 2."

Given his week-to-week status, the possibility of Peeke returning for the first round series at all is pretty slim. Montgomery called it a tough break.

"It is a tough blow, he's been really good for us."

While his exact injury has not been made public, Peeke did not play in the third period of last night's loss to the Maple Leafs after blocking a shot with his hand near the end of the second. Peeke mostly plays on the third defensive line with Kevin Shattenkirk. He had just over 17 minutes of ice-time in game 1.

In the meantime, defenseman Derek Forbert will travel to Toronto with the Bruins, but is unlikely to suit up for game 3. Forbort has not been in the lineup since suffering an injury in early March.

"Parker Wotherspoon is first in line to replace Andrew Peeke. Mason Lohrei is up. Derek Forbort is not a likely Game 3 option.'
