Vezina Trophy winning goalie Linus Ullmark heard his name in the rumor mill as the Bruins were dangling him to update their roster. The 30 year old, reportedly exercised his no-trade clause on Friday, according to insider Kevin Weekes.
Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravelli revealed that the Bruins "had a deal on the table" to trade Ullmark to the Los Angeles Kings, a deal "that didn't end up crossing the finish line."
Ullmark and fellow goalie Jeremy Swayman have provided stellar goaltending for Boston the last two seasons. Ullmark has a record of 16-7-7 with a .910 save percentage and 2.74 GAA this season. Swayman's record is 21-6-8 with a .922 save percentage and 2.45 GAA.
The Swedish native signed as a free agent in the summer of 2021. signing a four-year, $20M deal. Ullmark's deal runs until the end of the 2024-25 season With Swayman five years younger, it is clear who Boston have identified as the goalie of the future.
With the deadline passed, head coach Jim Montgomery has stated he will likely keep his goalie rotation going for the playoffs with Boston leaning on the hot netminder down the stretch.
