This past summer was a tough one for the Calgary Flames, as several of their pending 2024 free agents said that they weren't sure if they would re-sign with the club beyond the 2023-24 season.

One of those players was Swedish forward Elias Lindholm and Pierre LeBrun of TSN mentioned during Insider Trading this week that he could be on the move and shared two teams that could be likely landing spots for him.

"Well, first thing is, it's been really quiet on that front too. And part of it is that there have not been a lot of conversations between the Lindholm camp and the Calgary Flames. Not that you should read into that, because the Flames haven't told him they're definitely moving him and Lindholm hasn't told the Flames he definitely wants out. So there's that. But I do think he's going to get dealt closer to March 8, and the two teams that come to mind for me are the Boston Bruins and the Colorado Avalanche. Both could use that fit." LeBrun said.

He added, "We know no one can replace Patrice Bergeron, but a right-handed centre like Lindholm who has defensive acumen certainly would be a nice fit. The problem for Boston? They traded their first-round pick this year last year for Tyler Bertuzzi as a rental. Colorado is looking for an upgrade in their top six. But again, acquisition cost. They don't want to spend too high a price, they've done that a lot the last few years. But it's a name that will be near the top of our Trade Bait Board closer to March 8."

Lindholm, 29, would be a very good fit for both the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche, but certainly would come with a hefty price tag as the Flames don't want to let him walk for free. As we head towards the trade deadline in March and once teams are firmly in playoff positions, we'll likely hear more about who is and who isn't interested in landing the former fifth overall pick

So far this season, the Boden, Sweden native has 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists), six penalty minutes and is a plus-one in 33 games.

Which of the two teams mentioned by Pierre LeBrun would be a better fit for Elias Lindholm - the Boston Bruins or Colorado Avalanche? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
