Flames General Manager Craig Conroy is trying to do everything in his power to make the team competitive again and it appears that he may be looking to move on from one of his forwards this summer.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Flames are exploring the trade market on Nazem Kadri, who has a full no-movement clause which could complicate things. Pagnotta added that nothing is imminent.
Not long after Pagnotta post that on X, Darren Dreger of TSN added that interested teams have been calling the Flames regarding Nazem Kadri, but he likes Calgary and has a NMC, so hit preference would be to stay.
Kadri, 33, has five years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $7 million. He has a no movement clause for the next two seasons before it switches to a modified no-trade clause in the final three years of the deal. As mentioned before, it would be pretty tough to move Nazem Kadri, especially if he loves being in Calgary, it'll be hard for Conroy to find a landing spot that the forward would say yes to.
The London, Ontario native appeared in 82 games for the Flames this past season where he recorded 75 points (29 goals, 46 assists), 43 penalty minutes and had an even-rating.
This will be an interesting situation to following in the weeks ahead as the Flames look to turn things around quickly and avoid missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs three years in a row for the first time in over a decade.
