The story behind the f
deaths of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau continues to get sadder by the day. On Thursday night news began to leak that the two had been involved in a serious accident, but no one could have prepared themselves for the story that followed. On Friday morning the Columbus Blue Jackets confirmed the worst, and that Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau had been killed by an alleged drunk driver.
News surfaced that police had laid charges , arresting a 42-year-old local man for their deaths. Sean Higgins has since been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, among other charges. Details from the night have continued to be sparse, but now according to John Buccigross, some details have come to light.
In a message posted to his X account this morning Buccigross shared that, according to reports the two players had elected to cycle home from their sisters wedding rehearsal. A wedding, which was scheduled for Friday, but wouldn't occur.
Now it seems that every single time more details emerge the situation grows sadder and sadder. However, the hockey community has rallied around one of their own and a GoFundMe setup for the pregnant widow of Matthew Gaudreau has now reached over $500,000.
Sean Higgins is set to be in court once again on Thursday when he will face his charges and find out just how long he might be behind bars.
