NHL under fire after allowing former player to officiate against his old team
The NHL has faced accusations of bias or their referees for years. That's not something that's new for the league, but today the league is facing some backlash for a decision.
Tonight the Carolina Hurricanes are facing off against the Montreal Canadiens. The league made the announcement that tonight's officials for the game would be Wes McCauley and Carter Sandlak. While this decision wouldn't usually draw any attention, that is until you find out that Sandlak was once a member of the Hurricanes franchise.
Fans immediately begun to point out the possible conflict.
Sandlak retired from professional hockey in 2018. According to Sandlak he wanted to achieve his dream of making the NHL, even if it wasn't as a player.
What do you think, is this a conflict of interest?
