There's no question that if Pesce hits the open market next summer, he'll be one of the top commodities, but there's also a chance that the Hurricanes may trade him either before the start of the 2023-24 season or at the deadline.
According to reports, a pair of Western Conference teams, the Calgary Flames and Seattle Kraken have interest in acquiring the 28-year-old defenceman.
Pesce, a native of Tarrytown, New York, is coming off the best season of his National Hockey League career thus far, recording 30 points (five goals, 25 assists), 11 penalty minutes and was a plus-43 in 82 regular season games. He followed that up by tallying six points in 15 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Pesce's contract includes a modified no-trade clause with a 15-team list of teams he's willing to be moved to. It's unclear who's on his list, but he certainly would get plenty of opportunities on the blue line in both Calgary and Seattle.
