The Carolina Hurricanes, who have been one of the busier teams in the PTO market, announced that they're bringing in U.S. Olympian Nick Shore. Shore has spent the last three seasons in Europe, playing in Slovakia, Switzerland, Russia and Sweden. The 30-year-old also has 299 games of NHL experience with Los Angeles, Ottawa, Calgary, Toronto and Winnipeg.
The second team on Tuesday's PTO list are the Dallas Stars who are bringing back a very familiar face. Jordie Benn, who spent parts of six seasons with the Stars is returning to Dallas for training camp and pre-season games. Since leaving Dallas via trade in 2017, he's suited up for the Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Finally, the Pittsburgh Penguins announce a pair of PTO's on Tuesday, both of whom are defenceman. 25-year-old Libor Hajek, who was not issued a qualifying offer by the New York Rangers earlier this year, and 2010 first-round pick Mark Pysyk are the two names that will be joining the Penguins for training camp in September.
Hajek spent the majority of the 2022-23 season in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, putting up six points in 24 games, while also skating in 16 games for the Rangers.
As for Mark Pysyk, was set to play for the Detroit Red Wings during the 2022-23 season, but he missed the entire campaign with an Achilles injury, which required surgery. He last played for the Buffalo Sabres in 2021-22, recording 12 points in 68 games.
