NHL goaltenders are always under immense pressure, when they let in a weak goal it can deflate any momentum for their team. Carolina Hurricanes goalie Pyotr Kochetkov had this reality happen to him tonight while his team was facing the Colorado Avalanche.

Carolina had two goals on the board within the first ten minutes of the first period. They would add one more as they looked to close out the first up by three.

Colorado had other plans, as their newest player Zach Parise scored his first with the team, with less than thirty seconds left in the period. On the very next draw, Colorado took posssesion as defeceman Sam Girard fired the puck on goal from the neutral zone. It amazingly beats Kochetkov from a long way out, to move the Avs within one. Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour looks on from the bench less than amused.

It is great to see Girard playing so well, after stepping away from the game to receive care through the NHLPA's Player Assistance Program. Since returning on December 31st, Girard has scored 2 goals and 11 points in 17 games.
