The Carolina Hurricanes likely played a role in their new arena name being leaked on social media recently.

In a recent video by EA Sports highlighting some new features coming to NHL 25 this fall, fans noticed something different about the Carolina Hurricanes' arena - it has a new name.

A screenshot of that video was posted on social media by TheFaceOff.net on X that showed that Carolina's arena will now be known as Lenovo Center, replacing PNC as the naming rights holder after their deal expired at the end of August.

TheFaceOff.net's X account also posted a picture of their prediction for what the center ice logo will look like at Lenovo Center, featuring the Hurricanes' logo and the new arena name, which was then taken down on Threads by the team. Their post on X was also deleted shortly after it was posted.

When it boils down to it, the most likely reason for the naming rights leak is because of EA Sports' deal with the NHL and as a byproduct of that, the Carolina Hurricanes.

In the deal with EA Sports for their NHL video game franchise, they're allowed to use the arena names for teams in the league, aside from Mullett Arena, the home of the now-dissolved Arizona Coyotes.

Prior to the game being in development, EA Sports would need information about each team in the National Hockey League including changes to uniforms, logos and/or arena naming rights. Carolina would've needed to inform EA Sports about the shift from PNC Arena to Lenovo Center months ago.

The change to Lenovo Center is expected to be made official later this week when the Centennial Authority, who own the building, vote on the naming rights deal.
