Even after drafting phenom Connor Bedard first overall, no one really expected much of the Chicago Blackhawks this season. That doesn't mean the team likes losing, though. Especially the Blackhawks' veteran and leadership group.

Following a 4-2 loss to New Jersey last night, there was a players only meeting in the Hawks dressing room reportedly led by Corey Perry and Seth Jones. While they wouldn't discuss exactly what was said, Perry told reporters it was about making teammates feel more connected.

"We had a good heart-to-heart. That's the brotherhood. You're not putting anybody down. That's not what we're here to do. That wasn't the message. It's more of being brothers and being able to talk about it and figure it out as men."

"That was kind of the message, that we're a team here, we're brothers. It's not putting anybody down, it's to make everybody better."

Jones agreed with Perry's take on the meeting.

"Just being connected. Being simple when we need to be, time and clock management. The little things of the game. It's the little details that we're off. Our shift lengths are too long. It's just small things like that that can really kill you in games."

Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson was glad the players chose to meeting behind closed doors.

"They hear enough from me before and during the game. If they feel there's something that needs to be said, it usually goes a longer way when the leadership guys and whoever feels they need to speak up."

The Blackhawks are currently 4-7-0 in 11 games this season.
