As is the case with any rookie ahead of their first NHL game, they go for a solo lap at the start of warm-ups as the rest of the team waits in the tunnel allowing the player to soak in the moment.
When Connor Bedard and fellow Blackhawks rookie Kevin Korchinski hit the ice for the warm-up, neither player were wearing a helmet, which is required by the NHL rule book. Because they didn't wear a helmet, both Bedard and Korchinski could receive a fine from the National Hockey League on Wednesday morning.
There's a good chance that the Blackhawks told both Bedard and Korchinski they could take rookie lap without their helmets and that they would pay the fine from the league.
Bedard and the Blackhawks have a busy start to the season with back-to-back games tonight and tomorrow against the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins before he makes his first appearance on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.
Bedard went no bucket in warm-ups of his first game.
He doesn't give a shit about your $2,500 fine Gary 😂
