Owner and Chair of the Chicago Blackhawks has Passed Away
The man who has served as the principal owner and chairperson for the Chicago Blackhawks has passed away. The Chicago Sun Times is reporting Rocky Wirtz has died at the age of 70. So far, no cause of death has been revealed.
Rocky Wirtz inherited the main ownership of the team from his father after Bill Wirtz died in 2007. Bill inherited the team from his father in 1983. Rocky Wirtz grew the Blackhawks brand incredibly over his time with the team. He was not without controversy, however, as he was the main owner of the team during the 2011 Kyle Beach scandal that was kept under wraps for years. He also shouted down a reporter at a news conference in 2022 who asked what the Blackhawks had done to ensure nothing like that happens again.
