When meeting with the media recently, Chicago Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard shared a wholesome story from the night he broke his jaw in early January.

Back on January 5th, Bedard and the Blackhawks were in New Jersey taking on the Devils when the 2023 first-overall pick was hit in the face by defenceman Brendan Smith, which caused him to break his jaw. Bedard would go on to miss the next six weeks of action before returning to the lineup on February 15th.

Bedard told reporters that on the night he broke his jaw, teammate Taylor Raddysh, his wife and his dog came over to his apartment to keep him company and make him not feel alone. Bedard said the gesture meant a lot to him.

"He pretends to be my older brother sometimes. Even when I broke my jaw, that night, him, his wife and his dog stayed in my apartment room with me." Bedard said.

He added, "Just little things like that, it means a lot."

It's great to see that Raddysh would spend time with his young teammate in his time of need after suffering such a significant injury. As Bedard said, it's a really nice gesture and it's something the Blackhawks rookie won't forget anytime soon.

Since returning from his broken jaw, Bedard has been on a tear. In 13 games, the North Vancouver native has 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) including eight points in his last two games.

With the Blackhawks already eliminated from playoff contention, it's going to be interesting to see how the team does for the remainder of the 2023-24 season as they look to develop their young players and hopefully take a step forward next year.
