Connor Bedard ends goal drought with a beautiful shot
Over his very short career, Connor Bedard has already displayed an NHL ready shot beyond his years. Bedard has come exactly as advertised since being drafted first overall by the Chicago Blackhawks. The Vancouver British Columbia product came to the NHL with one of the best shots the league has seen since Auston Matthews.
Despite missing approximately 6 weeks of the broken jaw Bedard still appears to be the favorite to win the NHL's Calder trophy. In 61 games, heading into today Bedard had 21 goals and 37 assists. But entering today's game against the Dallas Stars Bedard hadn't scored in seven games.
If Bedard what goal was today, it would match his career-long goalless drought, but the rookie sensation had no intention of letting that happen. In the second period of today's game, while the team was on the power play, Bedard saw his opportunity and walked in off the wing. Bedard fired a shot to the far side beating Scott Wedgewood clean.
This shot was placed perfectly off the post and in and it gave the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead. Heading into the second intermission the Blackhawks leave the game 3-1 as they love to play out the final stretch of games before their season comes to a disappointing end.
