After three years at the helm, the Chicago Blackhawks officially parted ways with Luke Richardson on Thursday, signalling that while they weren't ready to compete, they expected more from the roster that they have assembled.
In the interim, they've named former Rockford Ice Hogs boss Anders Sorenson as Head Coach, but with the team looking to build around Bedard and usher in a new era of success in Chicago, they may be looking at a much bigger name moving forward.
Now, along with Sorenson, three other names have potentially been revealed as candidates to replace Richardson behind the bench according to Hawks Insider.
Those names are all intriguing in their own ways, with the biggest of all being Joel Quenneville, who was a huge part of the last era in Chicago, but given the locker room scandal that tarnished his time with the Blackhawks, it's unclear if they'd be willing to give him another opportunity.
Next up is former Canucks boss Bruce Boudreau, whose style would suit rising star Connor Bedard perfectly, and with a very likeable personality, he'd be very different to coaches we've seen in the not too distant past in Chicago.
Finally is former Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft, who is yet to find another role following his departure from Edmonton, but with the success he had there, he could be a fantastic fit with this young core in Chicago.
Ultimately, there are many choices for the Blackhawks, all of which could help in their own ways, but with Connor Bedard leading the charge, their next choice could be crucial to the future of the organization.
