Report states Valeri Nichushkin's Fate for Next Season has Already been Decided
With everything that went on recently with Valeri Nichushkin in the first round of the playoffs, many were wondering whether he would return to Colorado and the NHL to play again. A new report states it has the answer.
As you may recall, Nichushkin was taken away from a hotel in Seattle during round one by security. He was reportedly brought to the airport and never returned before his team was eliminated. No one would say where he went or how long he might be gone.
It came out later that a heavily intoxicated woman was found in his room as players were leaving the hotel for Climate Pledge Arena. A 911 call said the woman was conscious, although barely. A police report released later tated the woman told officers she was from Russia but born in Ukraine. She claimed someone had stolen her passport and she regretted ever coming to America.
This led to speculation over whether Nichushkin's NHL career might be over. A report out of his home country of Russia claims it isn't, and was never in question.
"As [Sport-Express.ru] learned, forward Valeri Nichushkin will continue to play for Colorado in the next NHL season. It has never been questioned within the club, despite the history that occurred during the playoffs." There are still many unanswered questions regarding the incident. Whether Nichushkin will ever give any answers publicly remains to be seen. Nichushkin has seven years left on a eight-year contract signed with the Avs in 2022. His cap hit is $6.125 million per season.
