According to reports, Fredrik Olofsson of the Colorado Avalanche is heading home unless he can get assurances from the team that he will no longer be sent to the AHL.
According to Expressen.se, Olofsson may head home to Europe after the season is up. The 27-year-old wants a one-way deal or he will likely sign with EV Zug of the Swiss National League. That would put him much closer to his home country of Sweden.
ColoradoHockeyNow says Olofsson was not happy after being a regular in the Colorado Avalanche lineup this season, but getting sent to the minors after the trade deadline when GM Chris MacFarland had landed more depth.
"Fredrik Olofsson was a regular in the lineup for the Colorado Avalanche, having played 57 games and spending most nights centering the fourth line. That changed right before the trade deadline, when he was placed on waivers and sent to the AHL, where he's spent the majority of the last few weeks."
Olofsson was initially a draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2014, but never signed with the team.
After playing two seasons in the Swedish Hockey League, he signed with the Dallas Stars as a free agent in 2022. In June of 2023, he was sent to the Colorado Avalanche for suture considerations.
