Colorado Avalanche sign former Flames defenceman Oliver Kylington
The Colorado Avalanche have signed former Calgary Flames defenceman Oliver Kylington.
Oliver Kylington has found a new home just over a month after he left the Calgary Flames organization as an unrestricted free agent.
In a post on social media on Monday afternoon, the Colorado Avalanche announced that they've agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $1.05 million USD with the Stockholm, Sweden native.
"The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the organization has signed defenseman Oliver Kylington (pronounced CHIH-lihng-tuhn) to a one-year contract for the upcoming 2024-25 season." The Avs said in a press release on their website.
Kylington, 27, has spent his entire career with the Calgary Flames, who selected him in the second round, 60th overall, in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Kylington has been very open about his mental health recently and didn't play during the 2022-23 season to work on it after being in a bad spot, saying that he suppressed his feelings and neglected his emotional well-being.
In 33 games for the Calgary Flames last season, Kylington had eight points (three goals, five assists), 12 penalty minutes and was a minus-six.
