Long-time Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean's future has come under the limelight amongst all the job cuts that Sportsnet has completed lately.

Hockey Pundits have speculated that long-time Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean could be the next major personality who could be losing their job amongst the large media cuts going on by Sportsnet.

After Jeff Marek was let go by Sportsnet, Jonah Sigel of YYZ Sports Media put out a report indicating that more layoffs could be on the way for Sportsnet. Hockey fans began to ponder what big names might be next, with Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean at the top of the list.

Sigel was quick to put those thoughts to bed, revealing that any changes involving MacLean likely would not occur unless they happen when the current broadcasting deal with Rogers ends in two years.

The 64-year-old, MacLean has spent the last four decades of his career working with the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast. MacLean and hockey legend Don Cherry hosted the legendary Coach's Corner segment which ended in 2019 after Cherry made some controversial comments that resulted in Cherry's dismissal. Many fans turned on MacLean for his lack of defending his friend, with many thinking he was acting selfishly.

What we do know for sure is the layoffs done by Sportsnet and Jeff Marek's dismissal are two separate things.
