The Avalanche finally managed to get their first win of the season last night against the Anaheim Ducks, despite another questionable performance from their goaltender Alexandar Georgiev. Since the season started, Georgiev hasn't been on top of his game. After five games, he had a terrible 0.811 SV%, and a 4.99 GAA, which is simply not good enough for a number one goaltender in the NHL.
The Ducks lost the game 4-3, despite Georgiev's struggles. They also got help from the referees, who failed to make an obvious call only seconds before the Ducks scored their second goal of the game.
Indeed, the puck went over the board and hit the net, but the referees didn't blow the whistle, allowing the Ducks to take a 2-0 lead in the dying seconds of the first period.
Here's the missed call that could've changed the game:

Fortunately for Colorado, the Avs were able to get back in the game, and won in overtime after this spectacular goal from Nathan MacKinnon, who's been trying to motivate his teammates for a while now.
The Avalanche will hope to cancel all the outside noise to build on that victory and keep going tomorrow night, against the San Jose Sharks. As for the Ducks, they will face the Los Angeles Kings on the same night.
