Scary situation - Dallas Stars prospect left motionless removed from game on a stretcher
It's a sight that no one ever wants to see. A young player laying motionless on the ice after a big hit. You can feel your stomach in knots and a lump in your throat. That is exactly what happened to Dallas Stars prospect Matej Blumel last night in an AHL game.
In the first period Blumel was the victim of a hit from San Jose Sharks prospect Ozzy Wiesblatt. It was clear almost immediately that Blumel was in need of serious help. Players around him immediately came to a stop and trainers rushed to the ice to tend to him.
It is clear on the hit that Blumel struck his head and neck on the boards. Blumel was motionless on the ice before being loaded onto a stretcher and rushed the an ambulance.
Reports have surfaced since the end of the game that was awake and alert, but no other details have emerged at this time.
