The Detroit Tigers are in the midst of a surprising MLB playoff run, and as such, the NHL have had to make a time change to the Detroit Red Wings home opener.

Just last week, a pre-season game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins was postponed due to travel issues involving Pittsburgh's team plane. Now, it appears things are changing between the two teams again, with the NHL now forced to make a change to the Red Wings home opener.

This time it's a little easier to deal with, as the game has simply been pushed back from 7pm ET to 8pm ET to accommodate baseball's Detroit Tigers, who are in the midst of a series with the Cleveland Guardians in the MLB postseason. This will make this one of the more intriguing days in recent Detroit sporting life, with no team beyond the Lions finding much success in the last five years, but now, the fans will be torn by the highly anticipated home opener and a surprise playoff appearance from their Tigers.

This off-season, the Red Wings handed out huge extensions to not only Moritz Seider, but Lucas Raymond as well, and with some solid veteran additions, they'll no doubt be looking to end their Stanley Cup Playoffs drought.

Despite the change in start time, the Red Wings will be confident they can start their season in red-hot fashion, and if they're able to get clicking early in the year, this will be one of the most intriguing teams to watch in the NHL all season long.
