Connor McDavid left the hockey world in awe last season after becoming the first player since 1996 to record 150 or more points in a single season. McDavid finished the year with 153 points in 82 regular season games, but is there a chance he could reach a new level this season? Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby thinks so.

In an interview with NHL.com's Mike Zeisberger, Crosby says that he wouldn't bet against Connor McDavid putting up 170 or more points this coming season.

"I mean, I didn't think 150 was going to be in the cards for him but he found a way to get there," Crosby said. "So, I don't think anything is out of the question for him as far as numbers are concerned."

"He just finds a way to find another level time and time again, so I would never bet against him."

In today's NHL, hitting 100 points is becoming tougher and tougher to do, let alone 150 or even potentially 170 points. If McDavid is to hit the 170-point mark, which would most definitely require him to play in all 82 games, he would need 2.073 points-per-game.

The last time a player in the National Hockey League recorded 170 or more points in a single season was Mario Lemieux, who had 199 in 76 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1988-89, which will be 35 years ago next spring, when this campaign comes to an end.
