Just when it seemed like things couldn't get any worse for Jack Campbell of the Edmonton Oilers, they have. According to the latest report, even the Oilers' AHL affiliate has given up on the goaltender.

On a recent episode of the Jeff Marek Show, Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman said Campbell has likely lost his starting role with the Bakersfield Condors. The team has decided to go with 23-year-old Olivier Rodrigue, who's spent his entire career in the AHL and ECHL so far, in the starter's slot.

Campbell has played 10 games with the Condors so far this season. His record is 4-6-0, with a save percentage of .888 and a goals against average of 3.46. In stark contrast, Rodrigue is 3-2-1 with a .938 SV% and a 2.14 GAA. In short, Campbell is being outplayed by Rodrigue right now, and it isn't really close.

As if his NHL play wasn't bad enough, Campbell's AHL play may put the nail in the coffin on any potential trade. Edmonton GM Ken Holland has his work cut out for him in that department, and will almost certainly need to sweeten the pot considerably for another team to take on Campbell's anchor of a contract.
