On Sunday night the Edmonton Oilers clinched their place in the Stanley Cup fine House. After defeating the Dallas Stars in just six games, the Oilers are now poised to play against the Florida Panthers. The series is set to start Saturday night in Florida but before the team head so they decided to get a little bit of celebrating.
After the game Connor McDavid and his fiance stopped by a local store in Edmonton to stock up on alcohol for a celebration. While the two were leaving, they encountered a group of Oilers fans. Unfortunately, that group clearly had boundary issues and underwent an extremely awkward experience.
As can be seen in the video, one of the fans attempts to sit on Connor's car before dropping his phone while another awkwardly asked the star for a hug. The video is almost difficult to watch given how cringeworthy it is.
This video is a perfect example of how to not interact with a professional athlete. Especially when they're out and about with their loved ones. At no point does McDavid say anything to the fans making this just the most recent awkward fan interaction of McDavid's life.
If the Oilers are able to win the Cup, McDavid can expect even more interactions like this.
