Evander Kane is dearly missed in the Edmonton Oilers lineup early in the season, and now we know when he's expected to return, and thankfully for the Edmonton Oilers, it's much sooner than initially thought.

This past off-season was tough sledding for Evander Kane and the Edmonton Oilers, as the veteran forward was forced to undergo surgery, with the early expectations being that Kane could be out until March. Later updates came along from NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, predicting that instead the timeline is more likely to be January or February, with the team needing his talent in the lineup badly after their 2-4-1 start to the season.

Now, we have yet another intriguing update on his situation, with Kevin Weekes nailing down the 'early 2025' period as the likely return for No. 91 as the Oilers look to turn their season around and get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs before that point.

Between now and then, things could change for the better or worst, but after tallying 24 goals a year ago and playing a very physical game, it's safe to say that his presence is certainly missed in the middle-six early in the season. Unfortunately though, Kane has also been a hinderance in the locker room in recent years, but overall, the Oilers have made it clear that if someone can help on the ice, they'll welcome them in.

There's still a long time between now and early 2025, with the Oilers potentially struggling mightily until that point as they have done early in the new season, but if they can remain in the race and get Kane back while also making a potential addition, they'll be a genuine Stanley Cup threat once more.
